Setting up your email

The following articles provide information on configuring email in iPhone and Android based smartphones. These instructions should be followed by owners of email accounts assigned by the ShoutCMS Email Administrator. The instructions vary depending on the version of IOS and Android installed on your smartphone or tablet.

Accessing email using WebMail

Overview

This article explains how to configure a ShoutCMS email account on an Apple iPhone or iPad.


Add and configure the e-mail account

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at  http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (for example, mail4.shoutcms.net).

  2. From the Home screen, choose Settings.

  3. From the Settings screen, choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  4. From the Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen, choose Add Account.

  5. Choose the email account type - Other.

  6. Select Add Mail Account under the Mail section.

  7. Enter your name, email address, password and description. Then click Next.

  8. Select IMAP as the account type.

  9. Enter the Incoming and Outgoing Server details:

    1. Incoming mail server Host Name: Enter your Incoming Mail Server (noted from step 1).

    2. Incoming mail server Username: Enter your  E-mail address.

    3. Incoming mail server Password: Enter your Email Password.

    4. Outgoing Mail server Host Name: Enter your Outgoing Mail Server (noted from step 1).

    5. Outgoing Mail server Username: Enter your E-mail address.

    6. Outgoing Mail server Password: Enter your Email Password.

    7. Tap Next to save the entered information. 
  10. Select the Save button. 
  11. Your email is now configured. Test the settings by sending your self an email and replying to it.
 To Delete or Move IMAP Emails on iPhone
  1. Press the Home button on your iPhone and choose Settings.
  2. On the Settings screen, tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Click on your email account (it should display an arrow to the right of the email address.)
  4. Scroll down and click Advanced.
  5. Tap the empty IMAP Path Prefix.
  6. Enter INBOX (in capital letters), then click Account (top left) and click Done (top right) to save settings.
  7. Tap the Home button and then reopen email.

 You will now be able to delete or move emails without an error message appearing!

Android 4.X smartphone

Overview

This article explains how to configure a ShoutCMS email account on an Android device (Version 4.X).


Add and configure the e-mail account

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at  http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (for example, mail4.shoutcms.net).

  2. Find and click the email icon.
  3. Add a new account. Fill in your username and password then press the Manual setup button.
  4. Select IMAP as the type of account. 
  5. Enter in your account setup information.
    1. Username: Enter your full email address.
    2. Password: Enter your email password.
    3. IMAP server: Enter the name of the incoming mail server noted in step 1 e.g. mail2.shoutcms.net.
    4. Port: Enter 993 as the port number.
    5. Security type: Set the security type to SSL.
    6. IMAP path prefix: Enter INBOX (uppercase).
    7. Tap Next.
  6. Enter in your outgoing mail server information.
    1. SMTP server: Enter the name of the outgoing mail server noted in step 1 (e.g. mail2.shoutcms.net).
    2. Port: Enter the port number 465.
    3. Security type: Set the security type to SSL.
    4. Require sign in must be checkmarked.
    5. Username: Enter your full email address.
    6. Password: Enter your email password.
    7. Tap Next
  7. Choose how often you want to check your email.
  8. Enter in your display name for the account.
  9. Your mail account should now be setup.

Android 2.X smartphone
OverviewThis article explains how to configure a ShoutCMS email account on an Android device (Version 2.X).
To set up Android for IMAP, do the following:
  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at  http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (for example, mail4.shoutcms.net).
  2. From the Home screen, tap the Application button.
  3. Tap the Email icon.
  4. If this is your first email account, you will be presented with an email setup screen.
  5. Tap the Next button. Otherwise, press the Menu button, tap Accounts, press the Menu button, and tap Add account.
  6. In the Type your account email address box, enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@youdomain.com).
  7. In the second box, enter the password associated with your email account.
  8. Tap the Manual setup button
  9. Tap the IMAP account button.
  10. Enter the following information in the fields provided:
    1. Username - Enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@mydomain.com).
    2. Password - Enter the password associated with your email account.
    3. IMAP server - Enter the secure server name: From step 1 (e.g. mail4.shoutcms.net)
    4. Port - Enter the port number: 993
    5. Security type - Select SSL.
    6. Note: Be sure the Port number is still 993.
  11. Tap the Next button. The device will connect to the internet and check your incoming settings.
  12. On the Outgoing server settings screen, enter the following information in the fields provided:
    1. SMTP server - Enter the secure server name: From step 1 (e.g. mail4.shoutcms.net)
    2. Port - Enter the port number: 465
    3. Security type - Select SSL.
    4. Note: Be sure the Port number is still 465
  13. Tap the Require sign-in checkbox.
  14. In the Username box, enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@mydomain.com).
  15. In the Password box, enter the password associated with your email account.
  16. Tap the Next button. The device will connect to the internet and check your outgoing settings.
  17. On the Account options screen, make changes, as desired
  18. Tap the Next button. On the Set up email screen, enter your name in the Type your name field. This is the name that will be displayed in the From field of email messages you send.
  19. Tap the Done button.
