Setting up your email

The following articles provide information on configuring Windows-based email clients (e.g. Microsoft Outlook). These instructions should be followed by owners of email accounts assigned by the ShoutCMS Email Administrator.


The instructions vary depending on the version of Windows and Microsoft Office installed on the computer used to access the ShoutCMS email account.

Accessing email using WebMail

All ShoutCMS mail accounts can be accessed using WebMail even if you are also using an email client. This article explains how to use your browser to access your email via WebMail.


Launch your web browser and type in http://webmail.yourdomain.com. Do not include "www." in the URL.


You will see a login dialogue asking for your email address and password.  Enter in your full email address beside the envelope icon and your email password into the password field.  Click the Sign In button.

Outlook 2010 and 2013 Email Setup

Overview

This article explains how to configure a ShoutCMS email account in Microsoft Outlook versions 2010 and 2013. Differences between the two versions are noted.


Add and configure the e-mail account

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (for example, mail4.shoutcms.net).

  2. Start Outlook and click on the File tab.

  3. On the File menu, click Add Account.

  4. In the Add New Account dialogue box, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

  5. Choose Service "Internet E-mail" (Outlook 2010) or "POP or IMAP" (Outlook 2013) and click Next

  6. Under Internet E-mail Settings, configure the following: 

  7. User Information > Your Name, enter your full name.

    1. User Information > E-mail Address, enter your full e-mail address.

    2. Server Information > Account Type, select IMAP

    3. Server Information > Incoming mail server, enter the name of your incoming mail server (noted from step 1)

    4. Server Information > Outgoing mail server (SMTP), enter the name of your outgoing mail server (noted from step 1)

    5. Logon Information > User Name, enter your full email address.

    6. Logon Information > Password, enter the email account password.

    7. If you want Outlook to remember your e-mail account password, click to select the Remember password check box. If not, you will need to enter your password every time you log onto Outlook.

    8. Click the More Settings button to open the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.

  8. Click on the Outgoing Server tab and then click the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.

  9. Click the Advanced tab.

    In the Incoming Server (IMAP) box, enter server port number 993

    Use the following type of encrypted connection: select SSL

    In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, enter server port number 465. 

    Use the following type of encrypted connection: select SSL

    Verify that both server port numbers are correct and click OK

  10. Test Account Settings by clicking the Next > button. This feature will confirm that the email is setup properly by sending a test email to the account. 

  11. Verify all tests complete and click Close.

  12. Congratulations! Click Finish. 

Live Essentials 2011 Email Setup

Overview

This article explains how to configure Windows Live Essentials 2011 to work with your ShoutCMS email account.

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (e.g. mail4.shoutcms.net).

  2. Click the Accounts tab.

  3. Click the Email button.

  4. Fill in your email address, email password, and full name.

  5. Checkmark "manually configure server settings". Click the next button.

  6. Select IMAP as the server type.

  7. Enter your Incoming Mail Server (noted from step 1). Change the Port to 993.

  8. Select Authenticate using: Clear Text.

  9. Fill in your login username: your full email address

  10. Enter your Outgoing Mail Server (noted from step 1). Change the Port number from 25 to 465.

  11. Checkmark "Requires Authentication".

  12. Click the next button.

  13. Click the finish button.

  14. Your email client should now be setup.

Microsoft Outlook 2007

Overview

This article explains how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2007 to work with your ShoutCMS email account.

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at  http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (for example, mail4.shoutcms.net).

  2. Start Outlook.

  3. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.

  4. On the E-mail tab, click New.

  5. In the Add New E-mail Account dialog box, click IMAP click Next.

  6. Configure the new e-mail account manually, follow these steps in the Add New E-mail Account dialog box:

    1. Click to select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.

    2. Click Internet E-mail, and then click Next.

    3. Under User Information, follow these steps:

      1. In the Your Name box, type your full name.

      2. In the E-mail Address box, type your full e-mail address.

    4. Under Server Information, click the type of e-mail account that you have in the Account Typebox.

      1. In the Incoming mail server box, enter your Incoming Mail Server (noted from step 1).

      2. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, enter your Outgoing Mail Server (noted from step 1).

    5. Under Logon Information, follow these steps:

      1. In the User Name box, type your full email address.

      2. In the Password box, type the password.If you want Outlook to remember your e-mail account password, click to select the Remember password check box.

    6. Click More Settings to open the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.

    7. Click the Servers tab, and then click to select the My server requires authentication check box.

    8. Click Apply, and then click the Advanced tab.

    9. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type 465. (Note By default, the SMTP port number is 25).

    10. Click Apply, and then click OK.

    11. Click Test Account Settings. This feature will confirm that the email is setup properly by sending a test email to the account. 

Outlook 2003 Email Setup

Overview

This article explains how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2003 and older to work with your ShoutCMS email account.

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at  http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (for example, mail4.shoutcms.net).

  2. Start Outlook.

  3. On the Tools menu, click Email Accounts.

  4. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click to select the Add a new E-mail Account option, and then click Next.

  5. In the Server Type dialog box, click IMAP, and then click Next

  6. Configure the new e-mail account manually, follow these steps in the Add New E-mail Account dialog box:

    1. Click to select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.

    2. Click Internet E-mail, and then click Next.

    3. Under User Information, follow these steps:

Outlook Express Email Setup

Overview

This article explains how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2003 and older to work with your ShoutCMS email account.


Step 1: Add the e-mail account

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to your webmail landing page at  http://webmail.yourdomain.com where "yourdomain.com" is the name of your website. Make note of the name of your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers (e.g. mail4.shoutcms.net).

  2. Start Outlook Express.

  3. If Outlook Express is not your default e-mail client, you may be prompted to specify if you want to use Outlook Express as your default e-mail client.

  4. To select Outlook Express as your default e-mail client, click OK.

  5. If you are prompted to type your name in the Display name box, click Cancel, and then click Yes when you receive the following message: The new Internet account has not been created yet.Are you sure you want to exit the wizard?

  6. In Outlook Express, click Accounts on the Tools menu.

  7. Click Add, and then click Mail.

  8. In the Display name box, type your name as you want it to appear on your outgoing e-mail messages, and then click Next.

  9. In the E-mail address box, type your e-mail address. For example, type user@yourdomain.com.

  10. Click Next.

  11. In the My incoming mail server is a list, choose IMAP.

  12. In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, enter your Incoming Mail Server (noted from step 1).

  13. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, enter your Outgoing Mail Server (noted from step 1), and then click Next.

  14. In the Account name box, type your full email address.

  15. In the Password box, type your email password.

  16. If you want Outlook Express to save your password, leave the Remember password check box selected.

  17. Click Next, and then click Finish.


Step 2: Configure the e-mail account

After you add the e-mail account, you must configure this account in Outlook Express. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. When you return to the Internet Accounts dialog box after you complete the steps from the "Step 1: Add the e-mail account" section, click the Mail tab. Note If the Internet Accounts dialog box is not open, click Accounts on the Tools menu.

  2. On the Mail tab, click the e-mail account that you added, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Servers tab, and then click to select the My server requires authentication check box.

  4. Click Apply, and then click the Advanced tab.
    In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type 465. (Note By default, the SMTP port number is 25).

  5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

  6. Click Close. If you receive the following message (Would you like to download folders from the mail server you added?) click Yes
